BALAKONG: Guests at a special wedding in Taman Impian Ehsan were seeing double, over and over again.

Identical twins Zeenat Begam and Zannat Begam Sawal Hamid, 23, married identical twin brothers Hasan and Husen Mohd Yusof, 26, yesterday.

With them were three other sets of twins – best men Mohd Aswad and Mohd Hafiz Yaakob, 20, bridesmaids Nursharifah and Nursuraya Abu Bakar, also 20, and 11-year-old flower girls Iffah Amirah and Iffah Aqiqah Hussin Ali.

Zeenat, who is the older sibling by 48 seconds, and Zannat had been promised at birth to the brothers. The sisters are both medical students at Universiti Malaya.

Hasan works as a clerk in Bank Negara while Husen, who is younger by four minutes, is a businessman.

SEEING DOUBLE: The couples Hasan and Zeenat (in yellow), and Husen and Zannat surrounded by fellow twins (standing from left) Mohd Hafiz, Nursharifah, Iffah Aqiqah, Iffah Amirah, Nursuraya and Mohd Aswad at the wedding in Balakong yesterday.
After the promise was made, the two families lost touch with each other until about seven years ago when they met again and rebuilt ties.

The celebration, however, was tinged with sadness as the brides’ father was not there to share their joy, having died three years ago. He was a good friend of the grooms' father.

The girls’ mother, Jameela Bee Abdul Suban, said it was the will of God that had brought them together and that her daughters had both agreed to fulfil the marriage promise.

“I am happy to see the wish of their father fulfilled,” she said.

    SEEING DOUBLE:

The second paragraph onwards is a mistake made by the writer, Stuart Michael.

It is the bridegrooms’ father, who passed away three years ago. The bridegrooms’ father was a good friend of the bride’s grandfather.

The boys’ mother, Salmah bibi, said, ‘I am happy to see the wish of their father fulfilled.”
