How Pickleball Became My Therapy

How Pickleball Became My Therapy

I’ll be honest—midlife crisis hit me hard.

For years, I carried this weight of imposter syndrome. When Malaysia Tatler named me one of “100 People You Must Know in Asia” at 26, I couldn’t believe it. I was on a list with Former Chairman of CIMB Tan Sri Nazir Razak, the late Billionaire Ananda Krishnan, and Macau's Billionaire Businesswoman Pansy Ho.

Me?

For a week, I felt on top of the world. Then the doubts crept in. What if I wasn’t good enough? What if I didn’t belong?

That feeling never really left. Life moved on, and so did the pressures—work, responsibilities, family. I had no real outlet. No way to release the stress, the frustration, the silent battles in my head.

Then, Pickleball happened.

At first, it was just me, a paddle, and a plastic ball. I wasn’t playing to win—I was playing to let it all out. The frustration, the self-doubt, the emotions I didn’t know how to express.

I smacked that ball angry. I smacked that ball tired. I smacked that ball wondering what the hell I was doing with my life.

And somewhere along the way, something changed.

Pickleball forced me to be present. The rhythm, the movement, the sound of the ball—it was almost meditative. It quieted my overthinking mind.

Then, something even better happened. Connection.

My 73-year-old mother started playing. My 13-year-old son joined in. My siblings picked up paddles. Suddenly, we weren’t just a family—we were a team. Three generations, on the same court, laughing, moving, and bonding in a way we never had before.

That’s when I realized—this game isn’t just a sport. It’s a lifeline.

So, I stopped just playing. I started coaching. Helping others find what I found—a way to de-stress, to connect, to find joy in the simplest moments.

Pickleball saved my mental health. And now, I want to share it.

If you’ve been feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or just need to hit something after a long day—come play with me.

Whether you’re here for fun, fitness, or just to escape life for a while, I promise—you’ll love it.

Let’s play. Let’s heal. Let’s have fun.
