Canon Expo & Meeting Simon Yam!

Dear All,

Hong Kong Superstar Simon Yam was in Kuala Lumpur to launch the Canon Expo 2007 that is happening from the 23 October to 25 October at KL Convention Centre (Hall 2).

Amongst the highlights of the expo are the various Canon prototypes from the 30s to the 70s that will be displayed. There will also be many fun filled games and informative demonstrations of Canon products. There is also plenty of pretty models for photographers to test their cameras on:)

Later , Simon rushed to officiate the opening of the new Canon boutique at the swanky Pavilion Kuala Lumpur. After the launch, this blogger was also invited to the press conference.

At the press conference, Simon impressed the Media with his knowledge of Bahasa Malaysia. He also demonstrated the use of the following phrases to the applauds of the Media:

"mau fo-to" - Want a picture!
"tak mau fo-to"- Dont want picture!
"khu-rang Marn-neez" - Less sweet!

Simon went on to explain that his knowledge of the language is accumulated over his long standing relationship with Malaysia, specifically Canon Marketing Malaysia. 11 years to be exact, and he described the relationship as a long and blissful honeymoon.

He proved the point that he is not just lip servicing by opting to come to Malaysia, instead of walking the red carpet at the Tokyo Film Festival along with his co-stars and directors of TriAngle (currently playing in the local cinema).

Hearing Simon talk, is truly a humbling experience. He is truly successful , known for being family focused yet he is extremely down-to-earth and friendly.

It really reminded me of our popular Malay saying, " Seperti buah padi makin berisi makin rebah" loosely translated to just like the padi fruit, as it gain more weight it bows lower.

SIMON, when i grow up, I want to be like you!

An Update on Photo Imaging X-change
Today I received a very good news! My accommodation for being a speaker of Photo Imaging X-change at Suntec City, Nov 1-4 organized by Koelnmesse ( the same organizers of Photokina) has been ungraded to the Raffles the Plaza Singapore !!!!

I am very looking forward to it and please do visit the fair, as this is one of the biggest photography trade show and convention in Asia Pacific! So don't miss it!
