Ask Kid Chan- What is panning?

What is panning?

Dear Kid Chan,

I am an amateur who has recently join an photography association in my area. I always hear the more season members using the world panning. I am too shy to ask, but what is panning?

Kenneth, BC.

Dear Kenneth,
Panning means to move the camera smoothly to track an object so that it will remain in a particular spot of the viewfinder. May I also encouraged you to ask your fellow group members, should you have any questions. I think they will be more than happy to answer them. That's why they are in a group, so that they may teach one and another! Happy learning!

Comments:
Hi, I would like to post a question as well. Is this the appropriate place to ask?

Anyway, my question is:

I find it difficult to take pictures indoor, especially under indoor lighting. If I use my flash (built-in flash, high-end prosumer digital camera), the object (normally people) will become white/very bright, therefore making it looks artificial. If I don't my pictures will come out blur, sometimes dark, and with noise. I would like to know, what is actually the correct ways to take pictures indoor?

Thank you!
